Bel’mart Space, founded by Belma Ersu in Ankara in the year of 2023, takes its place in the heart of the city as a new contemporary art gallery. Besides hosting the exhibitions of young and experienced contemporary artists it represents, Belm’art Space also creates its programs with the awareness of supporting productions of young artists and gaining visibility for them. Bel’mart Space, by the virtue of the social responsibility it has taken upon itself dreams of creating a space that brings people together, produces, shares, and lives by giving a brand new and contemporary breath to the cultural life of the capital with training programs, artist meetings, concerts, workshops, and talking series in collaboration with art professionals and cultural producers. Bel’mart Space also aims to reach a wide audience of collectors, curators, art professionals and audiences by representing its artists at national and international fairs.
Belma Ersu, born in Manavgat in 1952, graduated from Ankara Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences. Between 1993 and 2003, she was a student of Kayıhan Keskinok at Gallery Sanatyapım in Ankara. Getting accepted to the Painting Department of Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2006, Ersu graduated ranking first in class in 2010. She received her master’s degree from Gazi University Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department in 2013. In 2017, she became a special student in Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department in the Ph.D. courses. Among the places where she opened her solo exhibitions are Ankara Emlak Bank Art Gallery in 1998, İstanbul Türk Ticaret Bankası Art Gallery in 1999, Ankara METU Alumni Association Art Gallery in 2000, Ankara Tennis Club Art Gallery in 2004, “Fivestones” Ankara TCDD Museum and Art Gallery in 2012, İstanbul Bahariye Art Gallery in 2013, “Organic Egg” Ankara Tilki Art Gallery in 2016, “BaBank” Kova Art Space Ankara in 2019 and “Take-away” Art hmbrgr Ankara in 2021. Among the group exhibitions she participated in, Ankara Bilkent University Art Gallery in 1999, Florence Painting Award in 2002, TRNC Nicosia Atatürk Cultural Center in 2003, Ankara State Art and Sculpture Museum in 2008, “FARK” State Art and Sculpture Museum in 2009, Greece-Patras 2 Nd Art Science Internatioanl Festival in 2010, “Venue Atelier” CerModern Ankara in 2013, “War and Peace” Contemporary Arts Center Ankara in 2016 and ARTANKARA 7th Contemporary Art Fair in 2021. The exhibitions she curated are “That Firework is You” Ankara Port Art Gallery in 2015, “Tell Me Now, What Would You Do?” Ankara Arte Art Gallery, “Do Objects Have a Memory?” CerModern Hub Art Space in 2016, “Until İlhan Koman is put back” Ankara UCTEA Chamber of Architects in 2018, “The Other Bodies Are Here” Ankara Kova Art Space in 2018, “Night Shift” Ankara CerModern in 2019, “Abstract Archeology” Ankara Genco Gülan Contemporary Arts Center in 2020, and in 2022, “Pandemic Sketches” Ankara Contemporary Arts Center. Belma Ersu continues working for her future projects and exhibitions with BelmArt Space, which she brought to Ankara culture and art life in 2023.
